Groundhogs say it will be an early spring!!

Image hosting by Photobucket

Yes, canadian woodchucks a.k.a. groundhogs have agreed we will have an early spring this year. They didnt get to see their shadows. So these little fellas can't wait to shake winter off and get on with becoming their usual pesky selves. The american groundhogs are still hoping for a longer winter tho.

No surprise as we only had some Real Cold weather just before christmas, I do remember very very well a VERY COLD walk I had on the lake then, only later finding out it was -22C then. Even my tears froze. Never in my life could I imagine seeing water freeze in front of you. But we've had balmy weather (by canadian standards) since then, with the temp staying above -10C. It was a high of -1C here today, yummy, nice and warm. Could even hang around outside for a company event only in my shirt and tie! Dang, was looking forward to experiencing what -40C was going to be like, had my artic clothing all prepped and waiting! :(

However, mother nature instead of giving us the cold (maybe she knew I was coming), decided to dump lots and lots of snow instead, yucks. At first its nice to see the snow falling, after a while, and lots and lots and lots of work, brushing off snow, shoveling snow, enough! (see other pics)

Great weekend for skiing though!!! Hehe

Comments:
I love winter... I love snow... I love cold weather.... :) maybe I love it because firstly I think it's romantic and secondly I'm living in a hot weather country. That's the reason why I usually do my traveling mostly during winter time.

I think it has to do with teh global warming thing which warms everything so horridly. It's said that Maldives may no longer be in future cos the waters from glaciers will cover the whole island.

Anyhow, can show a bit more of yourself, please? I mean, the face. You actually look a lil' familiar. Hmmm... who asked you to go so far from Singapore??? ,-)

Happy Groundhogs Day, pal!

Selba, yea its really nice at first. I'm from Singapore so I know what hot is! but after a while like most things it looses its luster...

Jomel, hehe me like the groundhog turns and hides in the burrow at the first sign of his shadow

Mother Superior, hehe maybe I'm beginning to resemble the groundhog! Yea I backside itchy so needed to scratch. Don't forget SG is also only a few feet above sea level, notice how some parts still flood? PAP's new mandate is land raising not reclaimation!

SA, going skiing! yea the shovelling and brushing and what else gets to ya. But what I hate most is having to wear all that winter gear just to go and throw the garbage!

I love snow too - maybe because we don't get much snow here in Italy.. And I have very fond memories of snow too. And also because when we get a lot of snow, it's a holiday cos here, they're not that well prepared to deal with it..

l b, sounds like you get some really nice breaks sometimes!
