The Next 007 (yeah I'm not done yet)

Just finished watching the movie Layer Cake last night. What's so special about this movie? Image hosting by Photobucket Well its made in the UK, kinda rare these days, a really good movie but its star Daniel Craig is going to be the next 007. So I'll admit that was what drew me to this movie in the first place. There's been a lot of controversy over his casting. But then the same Image hosting by Photobucketcan be said about Michael Keaton (what no muscles?) when he was casted as Batman, until we saw him in costume. So it's probably the same for Craig. I faintly remember Craig in Tomb Raider as a dastardly ex-flame of Lara Croft. Layer Cake was pretty good and with that voice and intense look, I'm pretty sure Craig will make a good Bond. So the more I watch, the more I'm convinced this guy will be more like a 20th century version of Connery. In this promotional pic of the movie, he looks helluva lot like Sean Connery with a gun and he's got a great body to boot.

Brosnan's by far probably the prettiest of the Bonds, Connery the most rugged (they labeled him a truck driver at his screen audition), Moore the most debonair (he was after all Simon Templar, The Saint you know), Dalton was a mix of Connery and Moore (he didn't smile much) and don't even mention Lazenby. But I think Craig will do just fine. And having seen some on set production pics I'm really looking forward to Casino Royale. So waddaya think?

On a side note;
Every year during the Oscars presentation, they always have a in memoriam segment and each year, movie stars I grew up with pass away. It's almost like seeing a part of you chip off. People you grew up with, now gone forever. But their movies will always live on.

** Holding signboard protesting... RW for Bond!, RW for Bond! RW for BOnd!..... **

Hey, I just remembered, when i was a kid, once a year big event would be to go watch James Bond movie in Lido. Sigh, it was such a family affair going to the movies, putting on the best dress, socks (summore knee length ones..), mary Janes and my little bag.

I grew up watching Roger Moore as Bond and so, I was not thrill when TImothy took over. Later, in VHS era, I met Sean Connery. I dun like him coz he's too old... but, these last few years, guess my age is catching up too, I suddenly got all hot over Sean! LOL

Pssst, I really wish Robbie Williams would play Bond!

Hahaha, you are right that Brosnan is the prettiest james bond :)

Yup, definitely, am also looking forward to see Casino Royale. *Wondering how good will Daniel Craig performs*

"kuih lapis"? (layer cake in Malay for the clueless)

haven't seen Daniel Craig in action, so I'll reserve my comments till I watch the new Bond.

btw... missed out George Lazenby in your pictures of past Bonds, but I guess his 1 movie flop (On Her Majesty's Secret Service) just doesn't quite make an impression anyway, yea.. LOL!

For me, it's Pierce.
Well, just have to wait n see how Daniel performs..
btw, did u catch the Oscars earlier?

I think we should promote Steve Martin from Insp Closseau to Cmdr Bond..

lb - Steve Martin is too errr 'American'. WOuld prefer one with old school charm, Brit accent.... let's go with Mr Bean!! Yeah.. and his hot Mini!!

Oh, I guess Mr Bean as Mr Bond might do, except that he did a cameo in a Bond movie once so that rules him out! How about Terry Wogan then? Dammit.. he's too intense.

Helen,
RW can look good, can sing, but cannot talk lah, he sounds like a London cabbie!

Yeah I remember those days too! Wah big big event to go see show and that was at the Old Odeon Cinema along North Bridge Road, now gone liao *sniff and then my very first bond was Live and Let Die, scary for a kid! With all that voodoo bits….
You like mature men eh :P

Selba,
The prettiest and also the skinniest :P
Go watch Tomb Raider I or Layer Cake then you’ll know how good is he. : )
Oh ya, he also in Munich that new Steven Spielberg movie.

May, ..
Kuih Lapis, * slurp * every time I see you I hungry ! :P
I haven’t seen Lazenby either, but from the trailers * shudder *

King's wife,
Yea saw everything, from the red carpet interviews to the presentation. Boy was Jon Stewart nervous, Dolly Parton is still so busty but she really old liao can see all the botox. The awards was pretty much as I expected and yes I expected Brokeback NOT to win best pic!

L B & Helen,
Ya Steven Martin too americano….and ole’ bean is already johnny english

Maybe that blur fella from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy err wathisname….oh yah Martin Freeman, he acts in The Office..

"RW can look good, can sing, but cannot talk lah, he sounds like a London cabbie!"

Bond does not need much dialogue, even less pick-up lines. One look... and the ladies all get under his blanket. Good looks are suffiecient.... especially in bedscenes...:-P

Oh, big gun helps.

Helen! LMAO

How big?! *grin*

Small but damn powderful ?
LOL

Heheh. My sister has always thought that Pierce Brosnan made a wimpy Bond.

wat abt chow sing chi? he was damn cool as agent 008 in "from beijing with love". come on, the JB franchise is running thin. it is time to inject some mo lei tau sensibilities into the bond movie.
